On Friday, June 22nd, 2012, a beautiful clear day, supporters of the Park to Park Trails along with family and friends of Hans Muysson joined to official open the final link in the Park to Park Trail network.

A group of over 30 people gathered at the bridge across the Shebeshekong River in Carling Township to remember the contributions of Hans Muysson, founding member of the Park to Park Trail Association and longtime Treasurer who passed away in 2010 at the age of 79.

Amongst those gathered to remember Hans included his wife, Alice, along with many other members of his family. A number of Township of Carling council and staff, including Mayor Gord Harrison who spoke to Hans’ dedication to the trail and his own disappointment that Hans was unable to see the trail completed. In addition a number of former and present Park to Park board members and staff were also on hand to speak about the trail and their fond memories of Hans.

The ribbon was cut by Alice, and current Park to Park Board President Jack Tynan read proclamations from both MP Tony Clement and MPP Norm Miller, both of whom weren’t able to attend, to recognize the completion of the trail and the dedication of Hans Muysson.

In a decision by the Park to Park Board of Directors on May 3rd, 2012, trail pass fees have been eliminated for all non-motorized trail users.

This decision will eliminate any cost barriers cyclists, horseback riders and dogsledders may have faced in choosing to ride any of the Park to Park Trails.

The Board felt that due to the minimal physical impact created by these users on the trails that charging a trail pass fee was not appropriate and not in line with the West Parry Sound Active Transportation Charter which the Board signed on with in November 2011.

Trail passes will remain in effect for motorized users. You can get a trail pass from one of our vendors or at our online store.
